|Bourdeau Brothers of Middlebury has been in business since 1982 serving the agricultural needs of the Vermont, New York, and New England. The company of Bourdeaus’ & Bushey, Inc., was started by Jim Bushey, Germain Bourdeau, and Remi Bourdeau when they bought the Wayne Feed Store at the 88 Seymour Street location in Middlebury, VT.|
To keep up with agricultural production in the Champlain Valley the store was remodeled and improved in the late 80’s. With a new fertilizer mixing plant built in 1995. In 2002, a new warehouse and additional offices were added.
In 2004, Bourdeaus’ and Bushey, Inc. purchased Feed Commodities International, (FCI). The purchase of FCI increased the feed processing capacity of the company, enabling prices to be kept low.
A second update was done at the Middlebury facility in 2005, when old grain bins were removed, the warehouse was again expanded, and liquid fertilizer storage was added.
In addition to upgrades to the facilities and equipment through the 33 year life of the business, new products and services have been added. In 1999, Bourdeau Brothers of Middlebury began providing environmental management to producers with the start of
the Nutrient Management Planning Team.
In 2007 we added the sale and delivery of wood pellets to the mix.
In the spring of 2015 Jim Bushey at the age of 73 decided it was time to retire from the business and pursue other agricultural ventures. (Vegetable Gardening). At this time Jim Bushey’s part of the business was purchased by the Bourdeaus’.
Our vision for the future and willingness to change as the needs of the agricultural community change are what makes us a vibrant company to work for or do business with.
